How to specify a magnetic track system

1. Pick the track form first. Surface-mounted track sits on top of the cabinet and is the fastest retrofit. Recessed (flush) track is cut into the cabinet so only the heads are visible — the cleanest look for new joinery. Pendant track is used where the fixture has to hang above the merchandise.

2. Match wattage to mounting height. Our heads run from 1W to 7W. A 1W head at 300–400 mm above the tray gives a tight accent; 3W and above is for taller cabinets and for washing a whole shelf. If the head is too powerful for the distance, you get a hot spot on the glass and glare in the customer’s eye.

3. Choose beam angle by merchandise size. 15–24° for a single ring or stone, 36° for a tray of small items, 60° and wider for shelf washing. This is the single most common specification error we see on incoming enquiries.

4. Colour temperature and CRI. 3000K for gold and warm wood, 4000K for watches and stainless steel, 6000K for diamonds and glass. All our heads are Ra90 so reds and skin tones do not go grey under the light.

5. Tell us the target market early. Our standard builds carry CE and RoHS. UL/ETL for North America and ENEC for EU tender projects are handled case by case — say so in the first email and we will quote the right bill of materials instead of a sample that fails inspection later.
